Cleveland, known as ‘The Forest City’, is located along the southern shore of Lake Erie and, unsurprisingly, has many beauty spots and historical sights worth seeing. The city has a continental climate and experiences different seasons, so that the kind of weather you get will depend on the time of year you visit. Obviously, if you prefer sunshine to snow you’re better off taking a trip to Cleveland in the summer. There are a number of areas that are particularly popular with members of the LGBT community, especially around Detroit Avenue.
You will find gay bars and clubs, gay-friendly hotels and restaurants in Cleveland and events such as Cleveland Pride that give you an opportunity to mix with the city’s gay population. The city also has plenty of other areas worth exploring and things to do. You may decide to examine some of the city’s magnificent architecture such as Terminal Tower, the Old Arcade, the City of Bridges and Key Tower.
There are also museums and art galleries scattered throughout the city, such as the Cleveland Museum of Art, the Museum of Contemporary Art, the Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum and the Rockefeller Cultural Gardens. If you’re interested in science and technology, you may find that institutions such as the Great Lakes Science Center, the Crawford Auto-Aviation Museum and the Cleveland Botanical Gardens Glasshouse appeal to you.
If you enjoy the great outdoors and want to take in some beautiful scenery, you could always visit one of the parks in the city, including Cleveland Metroparks and Cleveland Lakefront State Parks. Since the city is based on the shores of Lake Erie, you can also enjoy a number of water-related activities such as boating, swimming, fishing, jet-skiing or go walking or cycling. Cleveland is a city whose beauty stands out and is definitely worth paying a visit to during your stay in the United States.
