With a population of over 2.16 million people, Houston is the largest city in Texas and the fourth largest in the US. Houston has a diverse population and a growing international community. Industry is important to the city’s economy, and it has a wide range of jobs available in energy, manufacturing, transport and aeronautics. The city has even been given the nickname of ‘Space City’ due to the fact that NASA's Johnson Space Center is located there and has been since the mid-twentieth century. There are also plenty of cultural pursuits to enjoy and sights to see in the city. Plus, there is a notable LGBT community.

Neartown is the place to go if you want to sample what the Houston gay community has to offer. You will find that there are a number of gay bars and clubs located in the area. Plus, the city plays host to events that are aimed at members of the LGBT community, such as the Houston Gay Rodeo, the Houston Gay and Lesbian Film Festival and LUEY Weekend, as well as the Houston Gay Pride Parade which takes place in June.

You may decide to explore the city’s culture and history, and so it is worth taking a trip to the Museum District where you can visit museums such as the Buffalo Soldiers National Museum, the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston, the Health Museum, the Holocaust Museum Houston, the Houston Museum of Natural Science, the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, and the Houston Maritime Museum. You may also decide to take a trip to the theatre, as there are a number of venues where you can enjoy the performing arts, including the Wortham Center, the Hobby Center, the Alley Theater and Jones Hall. There is also plenty of shopping to be done and nature centres to explore. Plus, a trip to the NASA Space Center is a popular option. Thus, however you choose to spend your time in Houston, it certainly won’t be boring!
