San Diego, which is sometimes referred to as ‘America’s Finest City,’ has a population of over 1.3 million making it the second largest city in California and one of the fastest growing cities in the US. San Diego has a rich and varied history which you can learn more about by visiting some of the numerous museums in the area. Plus, San Diego is a good place to be if you like keeping active, as there are lots of fun activities to do, and since the climate is warm all-year-round you won’t have to worry about bad weather ruining your plans. The city is also very LGBT-friendly and has had an openly gay mayor since August 2013.

If you’re interested in discovering more about San Diego, a good place to start may well be the museums that include the San Diego Museum of Art; the San Diego Natural History Museum; the San Diego Air & Space Museum; the Museum of Photographic Arts; the San Diego Museum of Man; the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego; and the San Diego Maritime Museum. You might decide to take a trip to Old Town, where you can see old buildings and icons, whilst if you visit the Point Loma Lighthouse, not only will you get to see the Cabrillo National Monument; you will also be able to appreciate the view of the Naval Air Station.

You could also pay a visit to Balboa Park; San Diego Zoo and Safari Park; go shopping; or simply relax on the beach. If you’re interested in something more active, there are plenty of water sports to choose from, whether you want to try surfing or scuba diving. Plus, the nightlife in San Diego is pretty impressive, and there are numerous gay bars and clubs in the area, especially if you visit the gay village of Hillcrest. This is also the location where the popular San Diego Pride is held annually. With so much to see and do, San Diego is a great holiday destination.
