Las Vegas Gay Guide / LGBT Guide
Las Vegas is sometimes referred to as ‘The Entertainment Capital of the World’ with good reason, as it is famous for its casinos, shopping and fine dining. Plus, there are shows, concerts and special events that are held throughout the year, whilst there are numerous other things to do and see in the city. If you’re interested in exploring the gay side of Las Vegas, it is well worth taking a trip to the ‘fruit loop’ area of the Las Vegas Strip, as it is here that you will find gay bars and nightclubs. The Commercial Center is also popular with gay men for its collection of gay bars and bath houses.
Las Vegas is often called the wedding capital of the world with about 120,000 weddings last year. It is now on its way to becoming the Gay Wedding capital of the world which is odd as Nevada does not recognise or sanction same sex weddings or civil partnerships.
Although Las Vegas is famous for its casinos, you don’t have to gamble to enjoy your stay in the city. There are museums to visit and exhibitions to view, such as the Erotic Heritage Museum, the Neon Museum, the Mob Museum, and Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition. You can see waxworks of various celebrities in Madame Tussauds Wax Museum; enter Eli Roth's Goretorium, a year-round haunted house; see the world’s largest golden nugget at the Golden Nugget Hotel or take a trip to America’s largest indoor theme park, the Adventuredome at Circus Circus.
If you’re looking for something a little more physically challenging, you might decide to try indoor skydiving, kayaking along the Colorado River, horseback riding, or rock climbing. You could explore the Las Vegas dunes in a dune buggy or take a helicopter trip that takes you through the Grand Canyon or high above the neon lights of the Las Vegas Strip.
Las Vegas is well-known for the shows it puts on, some of which are free, and so you should definitely see what’s available. You may want to watch world-class
circus acts perform or attend one of the many comedy shows on offer, whilst there are also headliner shows that feature world-famous performers. With so
many attractions to choose from it is hardly surprising that Las Vegas continues to be such a popular tourist destination.
