Mallorca Gay Guide / LGBT Guide
With a population of around 870,000, Mallorca is the largest of the Balearic Islands, located in the Mediterranean Sea. The largest city on the island is Palma, which has a population of over 404,000 and is the capital. Mallorca is a popular tourist destination, mainly due to its warm climate, its stunning scenery and the combination of cultural attractions, such as the prehistoric settlements known as talaiots and Roman ruins, and fun activities that are available to do on the island. If you’re looking for an action-packed holiday, or something more relaxing, Mallorca is the perfect place to visit, as you will never run out of things to do.
If you’re interested in keeping active during your holiday, you could always make use of one of the many golf courses on the island or go for a hike along one of the trails that can be found along the Serra de Tramuntana, which was first recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2011. You can also hire a bicycle and go cycling, and maybe even see some professional riders along the roads, since a number of teams train on the island. You could go rock-climbing or rent a boat and go sailing. You might prefer to engage with nature and visit the large salt marsh of S'Abulfera near Alcudia or relax on one of the beaches.
It is well worth visiting Palma, as you will find the Bellver Castle; Pueblo Español, an architectural museum; Paseo Maritimo, which is the area all along the port where there are numerous pubs, clubs and bars to choose from; Catedral de Mallorca, a spectacular cathedral; Banys Àrabs, the Arab bath building; Museo de Arte Español Contemporáneo, a museum which features contemporary art; and the Bull Ring, which you can look around when no bull fighting is taking place if bull fighting doesn’t really appeal to you. Thus, if you’re looking for a fun holiday, Mallorca is the destination for you!
