Gran Canaria is a hugely popular tourist destination, which is understandable given that it is the third largest island in the Canary Islands and has so much variety when it comes to the things you are able to do and see there. You can enjoy mountain biking your way around the numerous trails on the island; go hiking or play golf. Alternatively, you may prefer to make the most of the sunshine and beautiful beaches, with surfing, scuba diving and working on a tan all activities that you can do whilst in Gran Canaria.

Gran Canaria is also known for being gay-friendly and staging events that cater specifically for members of the LGBT community. The Carnival Maspalomas is held in February and is basically a great big party held over a week. You can enjoy the parade that is held, watch various creative performances and listen to different musical acts in a friendly, inviting atmosphere where you will find there are plenty of opportunities to drink and meet men!

The Maspalomas Pride festival that is held in May is also very popular amongst tourists. As with all gay pride events held throughout the world, there is a chance for members of the LGBT community and any non-judgemental, party-minded individuals to come together and have some fun! You can watch the numerous floats making their way through the streets, as well as enjoy the other activities that are staged. You might want to check out the various DJ sets and other shows available, including those with dancers and drag acts. There is also an impressive fireworks display that brings the event to an end.

If you’re looking for somewhere to go on holiday, Gran Canaria could be the island for you, as there are lots of outdoor activities to enjoy. There are also a large number of restaurants, gay bars and clubs located in the area to choose from, so that there will never be a shortage of things to do.
