How To Protect Yourself From Scams & Scammers
Below you will find a few hints and tips for protecting yourself against online scams and scammers.
DO
ensure your computer has upto date anti virus software and scan
your computer regularly. AVG do a free version of their virus software which can be downloaded here.
DONT
ever click on a link in an email to logon to your bank
account, Paypal account or ebay account. Always go direct to the website to logon
DONT
respond to spam emails. This only confirms your email
address is valid.
DONT
send money to anyone you dont know or have never met.
DONT
open attachments in emails unless you know the sender. These
can contain viruses.
DO
use phishing addons for your browser to protect yourself.
DONT
give your email address out too quickly to people you meet on
any dating site. The Caffmos Community has scam prevention facilities built into the messaging system so its safer to use that than email initially.
DO
report anyone you suspect of scamming and
