Phuket Gay Guide / LGBT Guide
Phuket is situated off the west coast of Thailand and is connected to the mainland by two bridges. Tin and rubber have long contributed to the wealth of Thailand’s largest island, though since the 1980s a great deal of effort has been made to develop tourist centres in places such as Patong, Karon and Kata, so that the money generated from tourism now contributes significantly to Phuket’s wealth. With the tropical climate, sandy beaches, hotels, restaurants, bars, and clubs in the area, as well as the many activities to enjoy and places to explore, Phuket is an exciting place to be.
Clearly, Phuket is ideal if you enjoy water-based activities, since there are so many to choose from. You could go to the Phuket Fishing Park, where you have an opportunity to catch lots of different species of fish. There are plenty of chances to go diving as there are many dive sites, with most being suitable for divers of all abilities. Snorkelling is also a popular activity in Phuket, as there are sheltered bays all around the island with easily accessible reefs, whilst scuba diving is also an activity enjoyed by many. There are lots of other activities to enjoy, as well, such as swimming; yachting; parasailing; jet skiing; wind surfing; kite surfing; and sea canoeing.
Of course, you may prefer to lie back on the beach and enjoy the sunshine or look at the spectacular scenery that can be found along the Prom Thep Cape, where you can watch the sun set, and explore the biggest waterfalls in Phuket. There are also numerous restaurants where you can sample local cuisine and bars and clubs where you can socialise and have a good night out. If you’re looking for specific events to attend, Phuket Pride attracts a significant crowd, giving members of the LGBT community an opportunity to come together and have a party. It is little wonder that so many people make Phuket their holiday destination of choice.
