BY Derrick E Payne F.I.P.D.F.I.T.D.D.Hyp. Hypnoanalyst & Lecturer (Retired & Happy!)
PREFACE
The writer of the accompanying four articles first became involved in the motivation of others in 1952 when, as a serving member of the Royal Air Force he found himself lecturing to National Service ground staff on (for example) terrestrial magnetism, at an R.A.F training school in Wiltshire. Now closed down!
At the end of his service career in 1963 he became Group Training Manger for a group of six main Ford dealers in Middlesex and started his own training consultancy in 1970 with what were soon to be thirty retail main dealers in the retail garage sector on his books.
Apart from writing training programmes with the full range of garage staff, the writer continued with "hands on" training for apprentices, salesmen and managers and it became more clear that his real interest was in the way which the human brain absorbed knowledge (bad as well as good!)
Prior to his retirement in 1996 the writer began to take an interest in hypnotherapy and over the next ten years used hypnotic techniques to help patients with psychological problems. This was done without the writer taking control of the patient's mind (of which he didn’t approve) but rather teaching the patient how to take control of their own mind and by this method his patients were able to deal with their problems themselves.
The theories and concepts in the four articles are the work of the writer in his observation and analysis of the situations he has experienced over the years. There may be some "so-called" experts who would choose to disagree with some of the writing – this is their privilege and the writer has no intention of becoming involved in any argument whatsoever. The reader can make his/her own mind up – after due consideration of the possibilities outlined in the articles.
The writer wrote and published a booklet in 1994 with the title;-
"Manage Your Course and Pass Your Exam Easily" - I.S.B.N 0-9523894-1-X
Which was well received by the head teacher of Eton College – "nuff said!"
