As capital of Germany and with a population of over 3.5 million people, it is hardly surprising that you will find plenty of tourist attractions in Berlin that are worth seeing. There are numerous historical sites, museums and art galleries which give you a taste of German culture, whilst you will also find a fun side to the city as well. Berlin is home to well-established gay communities that date back to the early-twentieth century, including Nollendorfplatz and Motzstraße. These areas continue to be popular with the LGBT community, though across the city you will find that there are attractions and events which attract gay men and lesbians.

There are a whole host of gay-oriented events held throughout the year in Berlin. There is, of course, Berlin Pride, which is also referred to as CDS Berlin; an event that has continued to attract huge crowds each year since it was first held back in 1979. There is also Easter in Berlin, which is the largest leather and fetish event held in Europe and is held in Nollendorfplatz, attracting lots of gay men. There are other events, such as Bearversions Berlin, Gay Night at the Zoo, the Folsom Europe Street Fair, the Friedrichshain Gay & Lesbian Park Party, International Gay Rubber Weekend and International Gay Skinhead Weekend.

You will undoubtedly find plenty of gay bars, clubs and other establishments in the gay-friendly areas of the city. Berlin has plenty to offer besides the opportunity to party, though. You may decide to visit some of the museums and art galleries in the city, such as the Deutsches Historisches Museum, the Museum für Naturkunde, the Jüdisches Museum, the Berlinische Galerie, the Berlin Wall Memorial, the Mauermuseum at Checkpoint Charlie and the DDR Muesum.

There are also theatres and opera houses where you can watch various productions and stage shows, as well as festivals such as the Berlin Film Festival and parades such as Karneval der Kulturen for you to enjoy. Berlin is a vibrant, welcoming city, which is why it is such a popular European tourist destination.
