Located to the west of Málaga, Torremolinos has been a popular destination for tourists since the 1950s, having been transformed from a poor fishing village. It was actually one of the first of the Costa del Sol resorts and continues to attract visitors, due to the good weather and wide range of amenities. It is also well known for its exciting and vibrant nightlife, especially the large number of gay bars and clubs. ‘La Nogalera’ is the area’s gay village, and you will find all sorts of gay-friendly establishments based there. Of course, there are plenty of sights to see in Torremolinos and activities to do, as well.

Based on the western shore of the Bay of Málaga, you will find plenty of water-based activities to enjoy. If lying on the beach and getting a tan isn’t too appealing, there are lots of more exciting things to do. You may decide to go swimming, windsurfing, kite surfing, jet skiing or hire a pedal boat. You could also take a boat trip and watch dolphins in their natural habitat or go fishing. There are opportunities to explore the Torremolinos on foot and by bike and you may want to visit some of the famous monuments, including the Parish church of San Miguel Arcángel, Torre de Pimentel and Casa de los Navaja.

There are also a number of cultural events held throughout the year, which include Semana Santa, consisting of processions through Torremolinos on Maundy Thursday and Good Friday; Fried Fish Day, held annually on the first Thursday in June; the Festival of the Virgen del Carmen de La Carihuela, held in July; and the Festival of San Miguel Arcángel, which is a week full of processions and festivities in celebration of the patron saint of Torremolinos, San Miguel. Thus, however you choose to use your time in Torremolinos, from shopping and enjoying the nightlife to keeping active and appreciating the area’s culture, you are bound to keep busy whilst on holiday.
