I am retired from teaching Science in secondary schools and have four, now grown up children who are very important to me. I only told my wife that I am gay a year ago and shortly afterwards we separated. I now live alone and am trying to find a new and fulfilling life. I have friends from my old life who I sail with from time to time and I joined a local Men's Shed where I make things out of wood and support others who may have physical or mental issues to enjoy their time at the shed too. I have just begun volunteering for FoodCycle where I can give a few hours to help cook a hearty meal for those who need one. I have started playing my cello again after too many years away from it and despite being a total languages no-hoper I am trying to learn a bit of Spanish. My son lives in Madrid and I don't want to feel an idiot when I visit him! This is all fine but I want to meet other gay men for friendship, to share experiences and who knows what in the future. For now companionship and friendship would be amazing. I like gentle, kind and empathetic people who understand what it means to be a friend and who enjoy the simple pleasures of life - a good meal out, a concert or a film in good company, a country walk but not an SAS hike! Maybe serendipity will one day lead to a closer relationship but for now that is not my main focus.
