Indulgence Divine, Apartment Vittoriosa
|Address||6 Pope Alexander Street|
|Establishment is||Gay Friendly|
Right by the Inquisitor's Palace and a stone's throw away from the beautiful marina lies a section of the town of Vittoriosa known as the Collacchio, an area once reserved for the Knights of the Order of St John. Nestled amongst its narrow winding lanes is Indulgence Divine, a town house dating back 450 years, brought back to life through careful restoration and bespoke furniture.
The accommodation is designed for two, with little romantic extras such as the canopied bed in what was the old house chapel, the en-suite with its lush double shower and a private roof terrace to make the most of the island's all year round fair weather.
The spaces are generous and well lit. Coloured glass filter the sunlight and silk curtains in bright colours contrast with the impressively tall stone walls.
A contemporary kitchen pod leads to the suave dining room with a zany Carrara marble table set below a turquoise Murano chandelier. An arch leads to the most romantic of spaces, the bedroom with a large antique tapestry that hangs on the wall and a canopy featuring Hieronymus Bosch's The Garden of Earthly Delights.
Winding stairs lead up to the sitting room where you can lounge with a book on the sofa or watch one from a small collection of DVDs provided. This in turn leads to the roof terrace where many a relaxing evening can be enjoyed with a glass of wine in hand.
A ferry from the waterfront will take you to Valletta in less than 15 minutes.
