With a population of over a million people, Cologne is Germany’s fourth largest city, well-known for its liberalness and for being at the cultural centre of the Rhineland. The city is home to a great number of museums, art galleries, exhibitions, trade shows and festivals and has some amazing architecture. You can also enjoy shopping in one of the pedestrianized areas of the city, with Hohe Straße being one of the oldest and busiest streets in Cologne. There are many other festivities held throughout the city of Cologne, including the Winter Carnival which is held in February, as well as other cultural activities to enjoy. You may decide to visit the museums and galleries in the city that house some fascinating exhibits. The Museum Ludwig is a museum of modern art, the Wallraf-Richartz-Museum & Fondation Corboud is an art gallery with a wide collection of fine art, the Römisch-Germanisches Museum gives you an opportunity to discover more about Roman History in Cologne, and the Schokoladenmuseum features chocolate-related exhibits. Overall, then, Cologne is definitely worth a visit for its cultural heritage and the variety of events that take place in the city.
