Sweden is known for its liberal attitudes towards sexuality and so although there are no specifically gay-friendly areas of the capital, there is a general acceptance of gay culture throughout Swedish society. There are numerous bars and clubs which are gay-friendly, as well as some events which are specifically targeted at the gay community. There is the Stockholm Bear Festival which takes place in May; Mr Gay Sweden, which is a beauty pageant for gay men and also Stockholm Pride, which is usually held at the end of July, bringing together members of the LGBT community with a week full of events. Thus, a trip to Stockholm is likely to be fun-filled!
