Fort Lauderdale By sabinefllJust to keep members up to date the popular Chardee's on Wilton Drive and near the corner of NE 6th Ave has closed. The space is now Bill's Filling Station, formerly of NE 13th St, and the Red Mustang Lounge, both excellent hot spots. I hear that the owners of Chardee's have opened another bar on Federsl Highway near Whole Foods (around NE 20St) but I have not yet been there......show review
New York By btuk4u
Guys I have been to New York City several times, it is truly awesome. I took my b/f (since separated) but found the hotels to be gay friendly, yes even the well known ones. You certainly do not have to fear NYC., just be sure to take some good walking shoes. The whole experience is one not to be missed, the food, the entertainment-straight and gay was fab. I shall be returning soon. You must visit the restaurants in Restaurant Row, such a choice from the romantic to the Jazz Restaurant, from the quiet to the noisey what a fab choice - a city not to miss......show review

San Fransisco By perseus42
I have just returned from San Francisco. I stayed at the Parker Guest House, and I cannot recommend it too highly. Bill and Bob and their staff(cute boys!) were always helpful and welcoming - nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was lovely, and there was complimentary wine between 5.30 and 6.30 p.m. PGH is very handy for Castro and streetcars to Fisherman's Wharf and other attractions. Check out their website before visiting SF, a great city!.....show review
About the USA
On the one hand it is probably fair to say that the gay movement began in the United States and that in many respects the US has lead the world with the development of its huge gay and lesbian scene and its many LGBT organisations. Other examples are the Gay Games movement which started in the US. However, against this many parts of the US lag behind other western countries on gay and lesbian issues and rights. There is some sort of gay scene in virtually every state of the US. The places we would recommend as older friendly resorts include New York, San Francisco, Fort Lauderdale and Palm Springs. All of these cities and resorts have large vibrant gay communities which are worth going to if you haven't been to them before. The US is also a huge country and the laws on homosexuality vary enormously from state to state and from city to city, so do make sure when travelling you aware of that States regulations.
