There are 3 bars and a sauna for the older crowd and admirers all within 5 minutes walk. The sauna is the Vulcano which is busy most afternoons and has a friendly crowd in the bar - especially weekends. The bars are MyLord (busy evenings), Zille (gets busy later) and Bei Udo (less cruisy and more mixed). All tend to be very smokey and have more people at weekends. As elsewhere in Germany, younger guys tend to speak English better than older but you can do a lot with body language!

Visited Colonge during the first week in June 2006. read reviews on this site and was looking forward to having a good time. Visited the bars mentioned and some not mentioned. Was very disappointed, not what i had expected. i thought the bars were quiet even into early morning. perhaps i am too old for thier scene. but will go back to Cologne again, city is great.

Read the reviews on Cologne before going on the 1st.June, went to the bars discussed in review. Zille , My Lord , ane a few others. very disappointed in them. May be because i am very mature , and don't speak the language very well, but they didn't excite me . visited then various times and days. after 10.00pm on towards 3.00am. they were reasonably quiet.

Koln is a very nice city and very gay friendly. The 2 main bars for the older group are the Zille and the My Lord, they are both very friendly. There are a number of saunas in Koln, the one of the older group is the Volcano, very clean and very friendly.

there are 4 good bars in cologne , the best i think being the zille bar, gets packed after 10 oclock pm and stays open till the last peson leaves,can be a little smokey when it gets busy but its worth it , the age group is mostly 40 upwards with all tastes catered for, most people get by on english so its not a problem to introduce yoursef, the other bars are bar udo which is next door to the zille , then there is the brenner vie reise, and bar my lord
