Events & MeetingsLa Dauphine B&B, Bed and breakfast New Orleans
Here's what Eyewitness Travel Guide USA has to say about La Dauphine: "Four blocks from the French Quarter, this B&B in the Bohemian area of New Orleans caters to art lovers and the budget-minded. The inviting rooms feature four-poster beds, ceiling fans, private baths, (WiFi Internet), and lots of hanging art. There's also a lovely small courtyard garden. The laid-back hosts are multi-lingual."La Dauphine,Residence des Artistes, is a very laid back, non-smoking, unpretentious guest house for the budget-minded traveler. Located in the Bohemian, gay, artsy part of town, four blocks from the French Quarter, and a mere 12 minute streetcar ride to the Convention Center. For your safety and serenity, no unregistered guests are allowed in the rooms. No cooking is allowed and there is no kitchen access. A mellow, village-like atmosphere prevails throughout the neighborhood. A 3-night minimum is required. The 3 rooms feature queen-size, four poster beds, cable TV/DVD/VCR, phone, private baths, ceiling fans, central air and heat -- all this in a charming, yet unpretentious, renovated Victorian, 100-year-old house. Very relaxed and quiet. On street, unrestricted parking is readily available in front of the house. Hoshi and Tanuki--intelligent and friendly Japanese Shiba Inu dogs also live in the house. Two rooms have baths en suite, and one has its private, unshared bath outside the room. Everyone is welcome here :-) A light, continental breakfast is served each morning. Two person maximum for each room. Room rates are for one or two persons. Basic single rate is same as double rate. Rates are higher for certain well know events such as Mardi Gras, Jazz Fest, Southern Decadence, Halloween, New Year's, etc. New Orleans is a French-heritage city, so the neighborhoods have French names in the old, historic part of town. Ours is Faubourg Marigny. Across Canal Street (Uptown, Garden District) is the American Sector, where the "carpetbaggers" and Anglo-Americans settled. Those places have Anglo names. We speak English, French, Danish (Scandinavian), and German. There are 30 gay bars within walking distance. And the gay Country Club with 3-star restaurant is clothing optional around the pool and large Jacuzzi hot tub and huge sun deck area.
