Cap d’Agde is a popular tourist destination that is located along the Mediterranean Sea in the Languedoc-Rousillon region of France. Cap d’Agde is probably most famous for being home to a large naturist resort that can attract 40,000 visitors every day during peak season. The Village Naturiste is actually a town in itself that features a two kilometre beach, a large marina and campsite, as well as bars, clubs, restaurants and various other amenities. Within the boundaries of the Village Naturiste, nudity is legal and you are not obliged to wear clothes, although some people do. Of course, there are other features of the area which don’t necessarily involve nudity! Gay naturists account for around 10-20% of tourists to Cap d’Agde with the majority being male.
Since Cap d’Agde is a seaside resort, you will find that there are plenty of beaches where you can sit and get a tan; go for a walk along; or engage in some of the many water sports that are on offer. Clearly, this is the place to be if you enjoy yachts and sailing, water skiing, jet skiing, fishing, surfing, snorkelling, and other activities that are water-based. You may also like to check out the Aquarium, where you can see a wide variety of different fish or have a bit of fun in the waterpark known as Aqualand.
If you’re keen to learn more about the area you could always take a trip to Brescou Fort, which was created in the sixteenth century and used as a state prison in the eighteenth century. The Musee Ephebe is also a popular attraction where you are able to look at historical artefacts. The Canal Du Midi is worth exploring, as it is a long canal that runs throughout France, passing through a number of towns and it has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Cap d’Arge is a tolerant, open town where there are plenty of bars and clubs in which you can drink and dance once you’ve had enough of lazing around on the beach or exploring the area. It is definitely an excellent tourist destination where you can relax and have fun.
